Poem: can’t sleep

The urge to write with no words at hand
Wishing away the long night
The product of fear at my side
A hopeful protection from the darkness

Grow up little girl
You can’t be afraid anymore
Afraid of the dark, of the unknown
Of a stranger or some results
You can’t jump to conclusions
And thrive on the worst

Don’t let it press in as you lie down
It has no right to your thoughts
It has no power over your heart
If you give it no right, no power

Push it away, throw it out
It has crossed the line, not you
It may have sought you out, but you need not light the beacon

Reclaim your lost ground
Your forlonged control
Force a looser grip
And knock it down
