Inspiration Monday – Old Wall, New Friends

Bench Monday - Old Wall New Friends
Bench Monday – Can you spot what’s missing?

We’re in transit today, making our way toward Madison, Wisconsin. Are you in the area? We’re planning a potluck later this week and we’d love for you to join us; let me know and I’ll send you the details!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these links as much as we have…

Stay tuned tomorrow for a lovely giveaway!

What’s inspiring you these days?

Reflections

  1. Ei! I’m in a rural farming village about 20 minutes from Madison, but we have a crazy week ahead of us. (And, if it’s remotely hot or humid, health issues keep me away.) If you do get the urge though, there’s a polka festival in Prairie du Sac on Saturday. (We’re in Sauk City. The two villages are joined.)

Darn. I was so hoping that you’d change your mind and come in the autumn. :)

Things inspiring me right now: organic everything, our whole foods market, my garden (x10), my kids, my husband working toward pursuing his dream, a vision I had last night about our church.

Not in Wisconsin but if you’re ever in Southern Maryland, look us up!

I SAW A FLOCK OF MOOSEN IN THE WOODS, WOODSENS!
that was my daughter, btw, can you guess which one?

  6. Greetings…
I have been following your blog for a few days now. I’m so inspired by your life on the road decision… How awesome. I really align with you on so many topics I see you discussing on your blog… it’s very refreshing. I like that you posted the link about ADHD and college too… For one, I have a B.A. and a Masters of Education because I wanted to teach the youth… But after doing it for for a year in Kinder. I was so upset with the system, and I quit, and have decided my daughter will never do the public school scam. It was so emotional for me what and how I was “supposed” to teach. I have since quit teaching, and opened my Etsy shop and blog a year ago. We make less money- but we’re sooo happy and free to be creative and healthy. My daughter is only 3 but I’m looking into homeschooling and traveling. I have tones of school debt to pay off, but I’m glad I made the decision to stay home with my daughter. I know that if she went into a public school they’d diagnose her with something… she’s just a free spirit though! Like Zeb. I saw it happen so much when I was teaching. It’s CRAZY. Cheers to you for doing all you do mama. you’re great. Much love,
    Lauren

Thanks for the links — that rice experiment is so interesting!

Read the Reality Check you linked to and it blew my mind! We have been saving for our kids’ college education (we felt our options after school were really limited by school loans). Now I’m thinking locking that money into a 529 isn’t such a good idea. Thanks for getting me thinking!

    • I’m pretty pro-college if a person really feels it’s what they want to do. (Truthfully I’m pro- anything anyone feels is really right for them.) But I don’t think it’s the only way.

And like you said, locking that money away could prove to be pretty bad if our kids decide they want to go to culinary school or travel to India to study the culture or apprentice in construction…or join the circus. ;)

I’m not in Madison, but if you are going through Indiana and need a place to park for the night, we’re in Brown County.

Have fun in Wisconsin. The Henry Vilas Zoo is pretty awesome.

try the experiment! We did and were astounded at the results! The rice is still sitting there on my shelf as a visual reminder of the power of positive intent.
