Inspiration Monday

Mailbox Monday

That’s what I’m gonna call these random Monday posts from now on – Inspiration Mondays.

I *love* taking Bench Monday photos and I find loads of inspiration in seeing what the others photographers do. And what better way to share my love of climbing on random objects than with some inspirational (or at least, thought-provoking) linky love to boot?

So, there you have it. Inspiration Mondays. No promising they will always be inspirational…nor happen every Monday. ;)

  • Found this article on neuro-toxins in soy burgers interesting. One more reason to avoid soy.
  • Loved this article on how kids learn math naturally
  • We’re here with a bunch of NuRVers (most of whom unschool their kids) and I’m digging the diversity and acceptance floating about. Who says the world is harsh and we need to prepare our kids for brutality? Life is good and we want our kid to revel in it!
  • Oh man, I NEED this music. Injected right into my skull, please.
  • She always tells it like she sees it.
  • Have I shared this one with you yet? It doesn’t matter. It’s a good one to read again.
  • Some eye candy: here and here and here and here.
  • I have some stuff up my sleeve that I’m looking forward to sharing. But I’m not there yet. The ideas are still brewing beneath my hat (if I could ever find a hat to fit over my dreads, that is) that should be ready for action soon.

Thanks for the linky love. I do in fact, always tell it like I see it. :-) Love ya!

  2. Thanks for the list of cool links; I especially look forward to reading the SwissArmyWife blog and the Middle Finger project. I am very interested in the concept of unschooling and am looking forward to reading up on it. Your photographs are always amazing, too. I wish I were better with the camera; something else for me to learn more about :) .

You get 100 points for the photo. I love it.

The learning math naturally thing sounds interesting. Might look at it later tonight. :) I SUCK at math… And college has just made this fact more prevalent in my life, unfortunately…

Great links, really interesting. Am disturbed by the soy burger info – there was me thinking they were so much better than the normal burger, now I’m not so sure! Think making our own is the only way forward (do mostly do homemade, but burgers and sausages – veggie versions – are my only exception for being quick and to get from a packet, but a bit time consuming to do from scratch and still end up with something my brain considers ‘junk food’- but not sure it’s worth it). Loved the link to Swiss Army Wife and the maths info was fascinating – as a parent who is able in maths, but hates it, of a child who adores it and does sums for pleasure, I can certainly relate to a lot of what was in the article. Oh, and loved the music too – have you heard any Mumford & Sons – kind of a similar vibe to Fleet Foxes – think you’d probably like it. x

My wife reads your blog regularly and we got into a discussion about one of your links. I would just like to add this bit of information about grains and soy:

“This is why more than 70 percent of the grain and cereals that we grow in this country are fed to farmed animals. It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just one pound of meat”

    http://www.goveg.com/environment-wastedResources-food.asp

“Ninety-eight percent of the U.S. crop is used for livestock feed”
