Janky

Jan-ky [jang-kee]
-adjective

1. Inferior quality; held in low social regard; old and dilapidated; refers almost exclusively to inanimate material objects: We tried to pick up on these girls waiting for the bus, but I was driving my sister’s janky 1989 Geo Metro so we just got clowned instead.

    :) nice.

this is such a wonderful post.

  2. Mon says:

Janky (whatever one has on hand) DIY is the best! Yay to repurposing.

  3. TennZen says:

DIY and reusing scrap is never janky in my humble opinion. It’s more beautiful than any designer trellis you’d see from Martha Stewart or Better Homes & Gardens…

’cause yours has something theirs will never have…

    Love.

    and I LOVE IT!

  4. I love it too. But I love giving Justin (The Perfectionist Carpenter) a hard time more. He’s not into my “janky” ideas but at least this one is hidden from the neighbors (unlike the fence he built out of scrap for me and hates). He’s such a sport!

  5. Denise says:

Nice! I have to rig something up for our raspberries which are getting out of control. Probably will be janky! Ha.

  6. Shirl says:

I’m working on a janky trellis for my cukes and squash. It’s consisting of an old sofa bed frame and a roll of wire fencing that’s been hanging out in the orchard and getting rusty. (My partner’s lived here for 20+ years and never throws anything away that may or may not have a second life. It’s a scavenger’s dream I tell ya).

I’m using cut open dog and cat food bags as landscape fabric, and jeans to fill in the spaces between the raised beds.

If any of this was visible to the public, I probably wouldn’t have the guts to do it. LOL We have a corner lot on heavily traveled roads. Luckily, it’s on a couple of acres and the property is surrounded on three sides by trees and vines.
